Some pretty stunning data from a just released Gallup poll indicates
Americans, by large margins, want the abuses of the Bush Administration
either criminally investigated or investigated by an independent
panel. Gallup asked Republican, Democrat and Independent respondents
about the Bush Administration's use to torture, politicalization of the
Justice Department and the use of warrantless wiretapping.
Here's the tabular summary:

Clearly, Americans are most troubled by the Bush White House's politicalization of the Justice Department and over 70% of Americans want some sort of investigation. 63% and 62% of Americans want an investigation into the Bush Administrations use of torture and warrantless wiretapping.
While, for whatever reason, Congressional Democrats are terrified by the prospect of investigating illegal activity by the Bush White House, the American people pretty clearly have no paitience for law breaking and want it investigated. Is anyone really surprised by that?
