Street photography of Harlem

Chilean born photographer, Camilo José Vergara, has made a career out of photographing American cities in transition.  Returning, over many years to the same locations, Mr. Vergara has painted a portrait of the evolving urban American landscape.

A collection of his photographs of Harlem from 1970 to 2009 is currently running at the New York Historical Society.  The New York Times presented a nice photo essay of some of Vergara's works last week.
